"Mario Kart World" to Debut as Switch 2 Launch Title, Unveiling its Long - Standing Development Journey

After a decade of eager anticipation from gamers worldwide, "Mario Kart World", the long - awaited main - line sequel in the "Mario Kart" series, is set to launch as a premier title for the Switch 2 on June 5th, with a price tag of $80. Nintendo recently revealed the game's development process that spans across console generations through a developer interview column.

Kosuke Yabuki, the producer of "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe", stated, "Even during the development of 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe', we were already contemplating the next installment. We initiated the prototype design in March 2017 and officially green - lit the project by the end of that year." He further added that the team aimed to elevate the series to new heights, which led to the decision of dropping the numerical naming convention and adopting the fresh title "Mario Kart World". The concept art had been marked with this new title from the early development stage.

However, the development was not without hurdles. When the team initially attempted to achieve 24 - player simultaneous racing on the Switch platform, they faced significant technical roadblocks. Yabuki admitted that to keep the game running, they had to consider sacrificing aspects such as graphics quality, reducing resolution, and even limiting the frame rate to 30fps. Such compromises were not up to the expected standard, stalling the development until the project was transferred to the Switch 2 platform, which brought new hope. As the release date draws near, fans are excited to see how "Mario Kart World" will redefine the multiplayer racing experience.
